So now we're jaded. We're quite used to seeing Middle-earth and its inhabitants brought to life, thank you! But The Two Towers still rocked our socks off. Here's a few reasons why.

- Gandalf's fall with the Balrog recreated one of John Howe's paintings (I think it was Howe anyway.) -- Idril
- I think the long shot of the Balrog and Gandalf falling from the ceiling of the great cavern down toward the water is amazing. The lighting and music are just perfect. It is so beautiful it makes my heart skip a beat. -- Idril
Chapter 2 ~ Taming of Smeagol

- I think Gollums face is based on EW, deformed and then animated to match Andy Serkis expressions. (No wonder the eyes are the same!) -- Celandine
- Gollum has a nasty bruise thing on his head, and scars of lashes on his back. Looks so real, and gives such a sense of history of pain and torture. -- Meri
- The marks on Gollum's back...:( -- Marrim
- Gollum's teeth!! They're gross, and broken and sharp, but they are almost pitifully sweet when he smiles!! Gollum rocks all the way anyway. -- Meri
- The writhing Gollum does with the rope on his neck, it's so pathetic and borders on the hilarious, especially when he perks right up and is fine when Frodo brings up the possibility of him being released. -- Meri
- That rope! It's very thin and dare I say...silky and smooth? -- Meri
- The scars on Gollum's back. Kind of adds even more to his pain. -- Amy

- Merry and Pippin - I want to know how Merry got his scar!! (hope it appears in the extended version) -- Lorellin

- "What about them? They look fresh"(nasally Orc) and "What about their legs? They don't need those. Oh they look tasty". -- FrdLives
- Grishnak's facial expression when he asks for the Hobbits legs to eat. He looks just like a little child begging. Even kind of cute. -- Nerwen

- Aragorn screaming in frustration and sorrow when he thinks Merry & Pippin are dead, and kicking the orc helmet, then noticing tracks on the ground ("A hobbit lay here...") and growing excitement as he pieces the story together -- and the way the camera cuts back and forth to show Merry & Pippin fleeing to the forest. (BrownEyes) --
- Aragorn's CSI-like walkthrough of Merry and Pippin's escape. -- Marrim
- The way Aragorn's tracking is interspersed with what actually happened. -- Lady Illanir and Friends

- "The tree is talking Merry." "Don't talk to it Merry, don't encourage it." "Whose side are you on?" basically anything said by Billy (or Dom) is my favourite moment. I LOVE BILLY!!! -- pippins the best

- Gandalf's sword blazing like it is in a furnace when he stabs the Balrog -- Lorellin
- Gandalf:"...smote his ruin upon the mountain." -- Aneya

- The way Smeagol keeps covering his head with his hands at the Black Gate. He seems more dismayed than Frodo and Sam. -- Idril

- Sometimes Gollum spits when he talks. A CGI character that spits? Amazing. -- Idril
- Gollums pupils are very small while Sméagol's pupils are big. So whenever he is saying something you can easily see whether he is honest or sneaky at the moment. -- Nerwen

- How Éowyn is there, and then she isn't. -- Lady Illanir and Friends
- Hama! -- silvericelf
- At the door Hama says "By order of Grima Wormtongue." I'll bet he doesn't call him Wormtongue inside the hall. -- Idril
- The way Hama says his instructions to Gandalf et al as they arrive at Meduseld, as if he really doesn't want to ask them to give up their weapons, he's only saying it because he has to. Even looks like he's rolling his eyes a bit! -- Mariel

- Legolas returning the Evenstar to Aragorn upon his return and the look on his face. -- silvericelf

- The movement of the ram up the causeway, rippling the shield roof and tossing orcs off the edges. -- Weaverbird
- When the orcs bring the ram up the causeway, it knocks a bunch of the orcs off. I'll bet those guys have trouble getting life insurance. -- Idril
- It's so typically Orc-like to push down your own people from the gateway to get the ram to the door faster. -- Nerwen
- PJ throwing the spear -- silvericelf
- Wondering if PJ picked that particular spot for his Helm's Deep cameo because it wouldn't require him to wear long pants or shoes with his chain mail. (He leans out of an opening over the causeway gate and throws a rock.) -- Idril

- The soundtrack is absolutely and through and through wonderful. I added so much to the film. Especially how the different themes are repeated and woven together. Howard Shore has my eternal respect for the music he created here. -- Nerwen
- My kudos also to the Sound-department and the Sound-editing-department. Those guys are forgotten so often when it comes to the praise of a movie and they did an outstanding job here! -- Nerwen
- Sitting and hearing everyone laugh in the movie, and knowing that after all this time they finally got a clue as to how cool Middle-earth really is. -- Idril
- I remember going into the movie thinking "This will be great, but undoubtedly a very doom and gloom sort of atmosphere" and I came out excited and split at the seams- not excessively humorous and some things that I laughed at probably weren't meant to be such side splitters (such as the ent dousing his head in the flood) but it was just enough humour to make you want to keep coming back knowing that your heart wouldn't be too burdened to go on- it was emotional and captivating but to all emotions, not just one. -- LeggoraLemoreuxl
- My mom actually liked it! -- Amy
- Gollum's Song. Enigmatic, weird vocals, but I find it works for me. -- Éowyner
- Least favorite thing: Not enough Gandalf! -- Idril
